Mike Effenberger is a jazz pianist and composer based in New Hampshire’s Seacoast since 2007. A graduate of New School University (2005), he studied under luminaries like Jane Ira Bloom and Fred Hersch. His eclectic style blends gospel, minimalism, and 20th-century classical influences. Effenberger performs with ensembles such as Soggy Po’ Boys, Bing & Ruth, Jazzputin and the Jug Skunks, and leads his own group, Weird Turn Pro. His work has been featured by NPR, Pitchfork, and The Guardian. As an educator, he teaches piano, composition, and music theory at the Portsmouth Music and Arts Center.
